About:
Joe Varner is a senior fellow and defence and security expert who helps organizations and government leaders understand global threats, intelligence challenges, and national security strategy. Formerly, Deputy Director of the Conference of Defence Associations, where he worked at the intersection of research, policy, and real-world defence issues. With experience advising senior levels of the Canadian government, Varner focuses on how countries prepare for and respond to geopolitical risk, conflict, and security crises. He also brings firsthand military experience from serving in intelligence and leadership roles within the Canadian Armed Forces. His work translates complex global security issues into practical insight for decision-makers.
